JJ Kennett is coming off the best season of his college career, and we’re excited to have him representing ThighPro through an NIL partnership.
A Breakout Year at Baylor
Kennett put together a big 2026. He hit .301 with a .403 on-base percentage and an .819 OPS in 40 games, starting 34 of them behind the plate.
Seven doubles. Two homers.
15 RBIs and nine multi-hit games.
He also walked 16 times while striking out just 17.
One of his best stretches came in April when he put together a multi-hit game against BYU and extended his on-base streak to eight games. Then came TCU. In front of Baylor’s biggest home crowd in nine years, Kennett drove in two runs as the Bears rolled to an 11-4 win.
Baylor eventually earned the No. 8 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and knocked off BYU 13-9 in the second round. For Kennett, it was the kind of season that showed just how far his game had come.
He’s Been Behind the Plate for a Long Time
Kennett grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana, before heading to Texas and becoming a standout at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City.
He was a three-year letterwinner and finished his high school career as a Class 6A First Team All-State selection. He was named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Super Elite Team and earned First Team All-District honors twice. As a junior, he helped Ridge Point make it all the way to the state semifinals and his defense was already getting attention.
Perfect Game ranked Kennett the No. 8 catcher in Texas and No. 54 nationally. Its scouting report noted a 1.87-second pop time and consistent accuracy on his throws behind the plate.
Then came college. Kennett spent his first season at Dallas Baptist before transferring to Baylor. In 2025, he started 23 games behind the plate and hit .243 with two home runs and 21 RBIs. He also made just one error all season. After the season he just had, we’re pretty excited to see what comes next.
Welcome to Team ThighPro, JJ.
